St. Gabriel Mission in Manassas Park celebrated its first Palm
Sunday as a mission March 25.
Father Juan A. Puigbó, parochial vicar of All Saints Church in
Manassas with special care of the mission, said celebrating the Mass was an
honor. “The summit of our faith is in the passion of our Lord and His
resurrection and doing that for this community just beginning is an honor,” he
said. “We are doing this around
missionary discipleship. Celebrating the Triduum at the mission is not only an
honor for me but an opportunity for people to recognize God is there.”
The mission was established by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge
September 2017.
Iris Chavez, coordinator of evangelization and
outreach at St. Gabriel Mission, compared the early church beginnings to the
beginnings of the mission. “To have complete remembrance of the Lord’s passion
is exciting,” she said. “Seeing our witness as a community has inspired others
to also become full members is a culmination of all the work done by so many
people in the mission.”
