Tanuja Maria Regina Rajendram Gnanasekaran passed away peacefully Dec. 7 in INOVA Fairfax Hospital, surrounded by her family. A devoted wife, loving mother of four and woman of deep faith, she will be dearly missed.
Born Oct. 11, 1969, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Tanuja lived in Sri Lanka and India before coming to the United States in 1993. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Stella Maris College in Chennai and a master’s degree in computer science from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, graduating summa cum laude. She later co-founded Commercial Lynks Inc. with her husband, Jayaraman Gnanasekaran, serving as vice president and helping lead the company to receive the President’s E Award in 2012.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, Tanuja became an integrative health coach and founded Simple Miracles, supporting others through holistic wellness grounded in science and faith. Her Catholic faith, devotion to the Blessed Mother and generous spirit guided her life and service.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jayaraman; her children, Angeline Shanthi Marie, Jay Sajiv Joshua, Shriya Raina Marie, and John Sathya Michael; her mother, Premela Rajendram; extended family; and many friends. A funeral Mass was offered Dec. 12 at St. Bernadette Church in Springfield.
