Sophomore Aaron Thompson scored 18 points and junior VJ King
had 15 to lead Paul VI Catholic High School of Fairfax to a
64-62 victory over rival Bishop O’Connell High School of
Arlington.
The game, which was delayed twice due to inclement weather,
was played Jan. 29 in Fairfax.
Junior Ako Adams led the Knights with 17 points, while Siyao
Sun had 15.
Paul VI improved its record to 10-10 on the season, while
ninth-ranked O’Connell fell to 17-4. The two teams will meet
again next Friday, Feb. 6, in Arlington.
In the girls’ game, the second-ranked Panthers outpaced the
Knights 55-40 in Arlington.
Paul VI junior Jasmine Whitney led a balanced attack with 14
points. O’Connell’s Jasmine Taylor added 13 points.
