It was raining and chilly when golfers teed off May 9 in the
20th annual Youth Apostles Golf Tournament at Raspberry Falls
Golf and Hunt Club in Leesburg. After 12 years as general
director of the Youth Apostles Institute in McLean, this was
Youth Apostle Father Jack Peterson’s first tournament since
his tenure ended April 9.
Father Peterson will now serve as director of mission and
development.
This year, the ministry hopes to net $110,000 to push them
over the $1 million mark raised over the life of the
tournament.
In his remarks at the post-golf dinner, Father Peterson
thanked all the participants and volunteers, and gave a brief
description of the Youth Apostle ministry.
“We bring young people to Christ,” he said.
Father Peterson said there are 86 men in the ministry serving
thousands of youths in Virginia, Washington, D.C., North
Carolina and Vermont.
He gave a special thanks to Youth Apostle Father Ramon
Dominguez, program director of the Don Bosco Center in
Manassas, which serves Hispanic middle-schoolers.
Father Peterson introduced the new YA General Director Mike
Paquette.
Finally, Father Peterson asked everyone at the dinner to pray
that Youth Apostles will continue to grow and continue to
serve youth.
