Youth meal-packing event Sept. 27

Catholic Charities and the Knights of Columbus will sponsor
“Feed a Family,” a youth service event, at Our Lady of Good
Counsel Church, 8601 Wolftrap Rd., Vienna, Sept. 27, from 3
to 5 p.m.

Participating students will learn about the problem of hunger
and will pack meals for families in the local area that will
be distributed through the St. Lucy Project, a diocesan
program that seeks to reduce food insecurity by bringing aid
directly to those who need it. The goal is to pack enough
meals to feed more than 1,000 people.

The event is open to all students in grades 1-12, and each
participant is asked to bring at least 10 cans of tuna, five
cans of cream soup and three packages of pasta. Students in
grades 1-6 must be accompanied by a parent, and middle and
high school students must bring a signed Parent Consent Form.
Service hours can be earned at this event.
