LIVE: Pope Francis meets President Obama at the White House

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will officially welcome Pope Francis to the United States during a ceremony at the White House Sept. 23.

About 20,000 people are expected to watch on the White House lawn. The pope will speak in English at this event, which will broadcast live at 9:15 a.m. The Holy Father and the president will meet privately in the Oval Office after the ceremony to exchange gifts and take official photos.
