Pope Leo XIV received the steering wheel of the Ferrari Luce, the Italian brand\u2019s first fully electric car, as a gift. He also had the opportunity to sit in the driver\u2019s seat of the new vehicle, presented by Ferrari as \u201cnot only the \u2018electric Ferrari,\u2019 but an entirely new Ferrari.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, the Italian brand said the meeting with Pope Leo took place at the papal residence of Castel Gandolfo May 26, with a Ferrari delegation led by its chairman, John Elkann, and its CEO, Benedetto Vigna.<\/p>\n

Elkann said it was \u201ca great emotion and an immense honor to meet with His Holiness together with my Ferrari colleagues,\u201d noting that it was \u201ca moment of extraordinary human and symbolic value, which inspired everyone in our company to continue on its path with passion, responsibility and confidence in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the meeting with the pope was \u201can occasion that will remain forever etched in our memory and in the history of Ferrari.\u201d<\/p>\n

In promoting its new vehicle, the Italian brand highlights both its \u201cmechanical performance\u201d and its \u201cenergy efficiency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Explaining its corporate environmental vision, Ferrari says on its website that \u201cwe are using science-based solutions to reduce emissions, increase energy efficiency, foster the circular economy, and inspire suppliers to join our initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n
