Bishop Burbidge responds to shooting at the Pentagon

First slide

On August 3, we learned of another senseless killing of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty as well as several casualties following a shootout — this time outside the Pentagon building. Violence of this nature offends the human dignity given to each and every person. The tragedy is heightened when it is perpetrated against someone who is dedicated to protecting and defending the public, and when the victims include innocent bystanders. Please pray for the repose of the soul of the officer and a quick recovery for the other victims. Especially at this painful and sensitive time, please pray also for the families and friends of all involved, that they experience the healing consolation and mercy of God. May we remain committed to peace and united in ending violence within our communities.
