Catholic Schools Week letter to parents

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

From January 28 through February 3, the Diocese of Arlington unites with dioceses throughout the United States to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Nationally, the theme chosen for this week is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” Our diocese is blessed with 37 elementary schools, four high schools, four stand-alone preschools, and three independent Catholic schools that educate over 17,500 children who exemplify this theme.
I am grateful to parents who have prayerfully made the decision to choose a Catholic school education for their children. A Catholic school education allows children to pursue academic excellence within the context of a community imbued with our Catholic faith. I also thank the teachers, staff, clergy and volunteers of our Catholic Schools whose hard work and faithful service assist parents in the education and formation of their children.
Please know that the Diocese of Arlington remains committed to providing financial support to make Catholic school education accessible to families. I encourage interested families to reach out to your local Catholic school for more information. I am grateful also to the many people throughout our diocese who sacrifice their time and financial resources to support our schools. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
May Our Lord Jesus abundantly bless our Catholic Schools, this week and always.

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge
Bishop of Arlington
