Statement from Bishop Burbidge for the 4th of July

First slide

Each year, Americans gather in prayer and gratitude because nearly two and a half centuries ago, men and women sacrificed everything to establish freedom from tyranny in this great land. Since then, many more men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the rights given by God and enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. While the years have passed, our national appreciation for the virtues of liberty and justice has remained steadfast and resolute.

We are “one Nation, under God,” and we are blessed to live in a land of abundance, where people can pursue dreams that improve their lives, as well as those of their families and communities. May we never waiver in our appreciation for those who made our freedom possible, and may we continue building upon that which was given to us, so that future generations may always enjoy the fruits of this land of opportunity, this city on a hill.

May God bless America—and you and your families—with his peace on this day and always.
