Travel lightly

How many times have we overpacked for a trip yet returned home with many items unused? We realize that we only made our trip more complicated by preparing for every possible scenario. Jesus told his apostles to travel lightly, to take nothing for their journey “except a staff, no bag, no money in their belts.” It was his way of assuring them that, in him, they have everything they need. What is God asking you to surrender, to let go of at this moment in your life? Maybe fear, distress, doubt or the need to control everything?  When you awake tomorrow, and every day, pray that God will grant you the grace to leave behind anything that may be weighing you down and trust that, with his help, you can “travel lightly” each and every new day.
