    The Catholic Diocese of Arlington, Virginia seeks a fund-raising professional to execute and manage a comprehensive individual Annual Fund program while managing all functions and strategies related to Development Services for Catholic Charities.


    Annual Fund Overview

    With a keen appreciation for the foundation of annual giving as the enabling component of successful major and gift planning programs, the manager is responsible for the management and growth of the institution’s portfolio of prospects and donors at the $1,000 to $24,999 gift levels.


    Development Services Overview

    As Manager of Development Services and supervisor of a Donor Relations Specialist, the manager employs best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing, data management and donor relations as related to the full spectrum of donor and prospect management for Catholic Charities. 

    Principle Duties:


    • Determine Annual Fund goals (Contributions, Christmas Collection, Third-Party Giving) and build strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals. This strategy will be a comprehensive plan utilizing the resources available through development services and donor relations.  
    • Focus on effective communication and solicitation activities within specific market segments identified as having potential for the greatest growth.  
    • Oversee  and implement the Annual Fund program, development services and donor relations programs including direct mail program, Christmas Collection, additional parish-based campaigns, data entry, report writing and generation, gift processing, donor stewardship, and all additional aspects of the institution’s constituent relations software.
    • Formulate and execute a communications program supporting Annual Fund.  
    • Work effectively with the Manager, Leadership Partnerships in implementing strategies that advance top Annual Fund donors into major individual and corporate donors at the $25,000 and above levels.


    Position Requirements:


    • Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 8 years non-profit fundraising and development operations experience required.  
    • Strong managerial, leadership and supervisory skills.  
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Willingness and ability to travel and to work nights and weekends, as required.  
    • Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations.  
    • Demonstrated analytical and fund raising skills with the ability to recognize opportunities, identify critical, high pay-off activities and prioritize them to attain goals.  
    • A strong personal commitment to the mission, goals, programs and services of the Catholic Church generally and of Catholic Charities specifically.  Prefer a fully-initiated and practicing Catholic, able to participate in the full sacramental life of the Church.  
    • Licenses/Certifications:  Must maintain a current driver’s license.
