A hidden mountain gem

First slide

My wife and I go up to visit family in Pennsylvania several times a year. We drive up Interstate 270 to U.S. Route 15 and then connect with Interstate 81 in Harrisburg to go all the way to Wilkes-Barre.

We've probably gone by Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md., more than 200 times. Every time we passed "The Mount," we would see the sign that reads "Lourdes Grotto."

We always meant to stop, but never did. We were always in a rush to get to our destination, or to return home. Last October, we took an extra day and stopped at the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes on St. Mary's Mountain on our way home. It's a wonderful, peaceful place to visit. There's a chapel, grotto cave, outdoor Stations of the Cross and small shrines.
