Kennedy Center to host Catholic U. gala

Catholic University in Washington will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music with a gala performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington April 12 at 8 p.m.

The gala will be a full orchestral and choral program that features alumni and current students and will include selections from West Side Story, Rodeo and Carmina Burana. It also will feature the world premiere of Ut Sol, Ut Luna, an orchestral fanfare by Catholic U. undergraduate student Matthew Yost.

The program will be conducted by Simeone Tartaglione, Catholic U. symphony orchestra music director; Thomas Pedersen, head of the musical theater division; and student conducting major Dimitar Nicolov.
