Construction delays start of school year at Bishop O’Connell High School

Catholic Herald Staff Report

Construction at Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington will delay the start of the academic year six days.  School starts for incoming freshmen Sept. 4. They have three full days of orientation and intro classes before returning students report Sept. 9.

The work is one of the first major steps “in a multi-phase capital improvement plan, which sets the stage for improvements in learning spaces, traffic flow, accessibility and more,” said Mary Jane Spurlock, the  school’s director of communications. “The next piece will flow right off this summer work, when we start construction of the new academic wing and chapel on the site of the former IHM convent.”
