Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria will open its doors Aug. 31 with a new director of instruction at the helm. Denise Tobin comes from St. John Neumann Regional Academy High School in Williamsport, Pa., and is joined by eight new faculty members: Patricia Allis and Teresa Kelly in computer science; Caroline Duffy in religion; Ireton alumna Rebecca Vaccaro in English; and Donna West in science. Patricia Moran and Angelee DeHaven will serve as long-term substitute social studies teachers. Jason Harris, girls basketball head coach, will teach physical education full-time and will serve as chairman of the physical education and health department.

Around campus, some familiar faces will now be in new roles: Mary Kelly is director of student services; Jacqueline Thompson is head librarian; Stephen Crooker is chairman of the religion department; and Jenny Leslie is chairwoman of the English department.

Faculty members Brian Dunn and Dave Ballintyn accompanied a group of rising seniors to Salesian Leadership Camp. The students will work with the Ireton campus ministry team to lead prayer services and retreats for their peers. Assistant Campus Minister Fatima Perez took a group of students on a service retreat to DeSales Service Works in Camden, N.J., continuing the school’s work with the Oblates of St. Francis deSales and furthering their mission of learning and service.
