Area Catholic colleges announce commencement speakers

Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan and his wife and creative
partner, Jeannie Gaffigan, will deliver the commencement
address at Catholic University in Washington May 14.

Gaffigan is known as a “clean comic” who does not use foul
language and who has incorporated his Catholic faith into his
act.

“This couple has changed the face of comedy and the
entertainment industry by putting the great adventure of
marriage and family life on center stage,” said Catholic U.
President John Garvey. “I have no doubt that our graduates
will be inspired by the Gaffigans’ commitment to their
Catholic faith, which shapes both their personal and
professional vocations.”

Dr. James Hitchcock, professor emeritus at Saint Louis
University, will address graduates at Christendom College in
Front Royal May 14. He is a renowned historian, who has
written extensively on the history of the Catholic Church,
secular humanism and more.

Marymount University in Arlington will welcome Washington
