Arlington Bishop Michael F. Burbidge celebrated the first in a series of Diocesan Holy Hours for Vocations at St. John the Beloved Church in McLean Oct. 20.

Bishop Burbidge asked those in attendance to “pray that the men and women in our diocese will hear God’s call and have trusting hearts” during a short reflection following exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

“Thank you for your faithful witness tonight,” he said.

“I thought it was interesting he kind of ended on a note of urgency — to also think about whether you’re taking too much time,” said Stephen Brooks, 29, a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Arlington. “Answering God’s call necessitates a leap of faith. Delayed obedience is disobedience.”

There will be other opportunities to join Bishop Burbidge at an upcoming Holy Hour for Vocations:

Nov. 3 at St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal; April 13 at St. Timothy Church in Chantilly; April 27 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fredericksburg; and June 8 at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington.

All Holy Hours begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by a light reception. There is no need to RSVP.

Plumb is diocesan digital and social media coordinator.
