Centennial celebration in McLean

St. John the Beloved Church in McLean will host a celebration
weekend Sept 20-22 commemorating the 100th anniversary of the
founding of their mission.

The events will begin Sept. 20 at 6420 Linway Terrace in
McLean from 6 to 10 p.m. with an authentic Louisiana shrimp
boil with jambalaya and New Orleans bread pudding; a beer and
wine garden; a movie with pizza and popcorn for children; as
well as a performance by “The Dixie Power Trio,” a zydeco
band. On Sept. 21, the celebration will take place from 11
a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. and will include bungee
jumping, an obstacle course and games; BBQ brisket, ribs and
pulled pork; live blues music; and a fireworks display at
9:30 p.m. On Sept. 22, Father Jerome Daly will give a
presentation on “The Mission of the Church” during a Holy
Hour at 3 p.m., to be followed by a 4 p.m. happy hour in the
parish hall.
