Collection for religious retirement Nov. 7-8

The diocesan Retirement Fund for Religious collection,
coordinated by the National Religious Retirement Office, will be held Nov. 7-8.
The collection helps religious communities support older members and benefits
nearly 30,000 senior religious.

In 2019, 72 percent of the religious communities providing data
to the NRRO had a median age of 70 or higher. The retirement collection was
started by U.S. bishops in 1988 to address the need for retirement funding for
religious communities. The yearly collection provides financial support to
hundreds of religious communities for retirement expenses or investment for the
future. Since the first year, nearly $899 million has been donated.

Last year, the diocese donated $419,678 to the $26.2 million that
was raised nationwide.
