Nearly 20 young volunteers reenacted a live Nativity scene for drivers-by at Precious Blood Church in Culpeper Dec. 20, braving the night air to portray Mary, Joseph, an angel, shepherds and the three Wise Men.

Farm animals including a cow and sheep completed the scene, contentedly munching on hay during the two-hour event.

Some 150 cars passed through during the inaugural event, organized by Kelly Bennett, coordinator of youth ministry and adult evangelization.

Live Nativity Jan. 3

A drive-thru live nativity will be held at Precious Blood Church, 114 E Edmondson St., Culpeper, Jan. 3, 6-8 p.m.

Attendees will receive homemade Epiphany blessing kits and a blessing from Father Kevin Walsh, pastor, as they drive by. Canned food donations will be accepted for the St. Joseph’s Table food pantry.
