Catholic young adults don’t always
meet in a church. Sometimes they meet at a polo match.

Members of the Arlington Young Adult Ministry spent time
together on a berm watching the grand finale polo matches at the Great Meadow
Polo Club in The Plains Sept. 23.

Brendan Gotta, Young Adult coordinator in the diocesan
Office of Youth, Campus and Young Adult Ministry, said the group first started
attending the polo matches three years ago. “We saw it as a way to invite
people who live out west to have an opportunity to get together,” he said.

Sarah Christensen has attended each year. “It is unique and
different,” she said. “It is nice to be outside and enjoying the weather.”

She invited Danielle Gallagher, who just moved to the area.
Gallagher, who works in Washington, said she appreciates attending events with
people who have similar values. “It is nice when you come to an event like this
and you have a mutual understanding of things,” she said.
