Golf tournament to benefit Children’s National Health System fund

When Stephen Monaco was 3 years old, he suffered a severe brain injury due to the late diagnosis of a metabolic disorder. His injuries were preventable had he benefited from comprehensive newborn screening.

The third annual Stephen Monaco Charity Golf Event, to celebrate his 20th birthday, will be held at Old Hickory Golf Course, 11921 Chanceford Dr., Woodbridge, Oct. 27.

The tournament benefits the Stephen Monaco Nutrition and Genetics Fund at Children’s National Health System. The fund, created in 2015, helps improve life for others with similar metabolic disorders.

The registration deadline is Oct. 17. The shotgun start is at noon. Dinner is at 6 p.m. and tickets are available for non-golfers. There is also a silent auction.
