Former associate professor of history Jesuit Father David J. Collins was chosen as the new program director for the Catholic Studies Program at Georgetown College in Washington. Father Collins is a native of Washington and grew up attending St. Ann School in Arlington.

Father Collins has been a Jesuit Catholic priest since 1998 and holds a doctorate in history, a licentiate of sacred theology and a degree in philosophy. He joined the Georgetown history department in 2004, teaching and researching the cultural and intellectual history of the late Middle Ages.

“I am really looking forward to building on the foundations laid by my predecessors to make a program that contributes substantially to the dialogue — crucial to the Jesuit mission — between the world and the church,” said Father Collins.
