Borromeo Housing Inc. is in immediate need of permanent housing
for the nonprofit’s Infant Care Supply Center, which provides families living
in poverty with diapers, clothes and other needs.
BHI needs a large room in the Arlington or Falls Church area with
enough space for bins and shelves, preferably floor-to-ceiling. An office on a
first floor or near an elevator, with enough space for a desk to fill out
paperwork and meet with potential clients, would be ideal.
Last week, the nonprofit disbursed larger-than-usual donations to
partner organizations to clear room after they had to vacate the
space they occupied previously. The Edward Douglass White Knights of Columbus Council
has agreed to provide temporary housing for the nonprofit’s remaining supplies, but the supply center is closed until a
permanent solution can be found.
“From a long-term perspective we have to either find a home or
accept the fact that the community outreach portion of our mission is not
viable,” said Dani Seltzer, board chair.
BHI is a non-sectarian, faith-based organization founded in 1988
to help homeless and at-risk young mothers obtain education and employment. The
group operates a residential home for young mothers in addition to the Infant
Care Supply Center, which assists 100 to 150 needy families every month.
