Bishop Ireton cheerleaders are national grand champions

The Bishop Ireton cheerleaders celebrate their recent National Grand Championship.

The varsity cheerleading squad from Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria won the National Grand Champion trophy at the Christian Cheerleaders of America national competition in Winston-Salem, N.C., last month.

Bishop Ireton took first place in the medium varsity division. The Cardinals became grand champions after receiving the highest score of any division at the national competition.

At the competition, Cardinal Coach Angela Hope-Eskew was inducted into CCA’s coaches hall of fame.
