Dwayne Bryant will be the new athletic director at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria beginning June 2020. Bill Simmons will continue as the interim athletic director through the school year.

"We are tremendously excited to have Mr. Bryant join our team here at Bishop Ireton,” said Head of School Kathleen McNutt. “He brings a wealth of experience in athletics and high school programming. As our school grows in myriad ways, Dwayne is exactly the person we need to lead our athletic department into the future. His vision and expertise will shape our athletic program and community for years to come and I’m thrilled to welcome him as the newest member of our Cardinal family.”

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to lead the Bishop Ireton athletic program,” said Bryant. “I look forward to working with everyone in the Bishop Ireton community to fulfill the mission of the school through athletics.”

Bryant most recently served as the director of athletics and physical education at Trinity Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. He began coaching and teaching in Alexandria, working for 22 years in the Washington area at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria; Georgetown Preparatory School and Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, Md.; and McLean School in Potomac, Md.

Bryant has a bachelor’s in English from Georgetown University in Washington, where he played basketball all four years.
