O’Connell interim head of school honored in Philadelphia

Sister, Servant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Lorraine McGrew, interim head of school at Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, was one of 40 Catholics in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia honored by Pope Francis for dedication and exceptional service to the church. She received the honor, conferred by Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, during a ceremony with evening prayer at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia Sept. 5.

Sister McGrew was honored with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross for her commitment to her vocation and Catholic education. She has served as a regional and grand superior of her religious community, as well as working for more than 25 years in education.
