Top-ranked McDonogh Eagles defeat Bishop Ireton Cardinals

In a game that featured two nationally ranked high school lacrosse teams, McDonogh High School of Owings Mills, Md., defeated Bishop Ireton High School of Alexandria 14-8. The game was played April 16 in Alexandria and was televised by USA Today High School Sports.
The victory was the 189th consecutive win for the Eagles, who haven’t lost a game in nine years. Julia Hoffman scored four goals for McDonogh, including three straight in the second half, while Ireton’s Sydney Foster scored three goals.
According to The Baltimore Sun, during McDonogh’s winning streak, which began April 13, 2009, the Eagles have beaten teams from nine states, the District of Columbia and Ontario.
