LIVE: Pope Francis speaks to joint meeting of Congress

Pope Francis will become the first pope to address a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress when he arrives at the U.S. Capitol Sept. 24.

After a private meeting with Rep. John Boehner, Speaker of the House, the Holy Father will enter the House chamber, where he will speak in English. After the address, the Holy Father will pass by a statue of St. Junipero Serra, who he canonized the night before.
