It’s the Fourth of July and all
around us fireworks are blasting off, and grills draw the master chefs out in the family. But what I remember most about the holiday is a few treats my mom
would always include — bomb pops and potato sticks.
The bomb pops were a welcome
respite during the high heat of the day. Our hands would be sticky from the frozen sugar water that would melt faster than we could eat.
The potato sticks accompanied our watching neighborhood fireworks after my dad set off his supply
earlier in the evening. My mom would heat up the potato sticks in a Pyrex dish
for 30 seconds in the microwave. They were delicious!
