For the past five years, members of the Knights of Columbus at St. Veronica Church in Chantilly have been organizing collections of personal hygiene items to assist the rural poor of Madison County and surrounding counties.   

Nearly 150 people gathered with Arlington Bishop Michael F. Burbidge Oct. 24 to pray the rosary in front of the Falls Church Healthcare Center, one of the largest abortion clinics in the area. The gathering was part of a campaign Sept. 23 through Nov. 1 organized by 40 Days for Life, an international organization that encourages people to pray outside abortion clinics.

WASHINGTON — A divided Senate, in a 52-48 vote, confirmed Amy Coney Barrett as a justice for the Supreme Court the evening of Oct. 26 and soon afterward she was sworn in by Justice Clarence Thomas at a White House ceremony.

Today, Pope Francis announced that he will name Most Reverend Wilton D. Gregory, Archbishop of Washington, D.C., to the College of Cardinals on November 28, 2020. I congratulate Cardinal-designate Gregory on this most welcome news. As the first Black Cardinal of the United States, this historic announcement is an honor and blessing for him as well as for the entire Church in our country.
