 Spirited sci-fi follow-up in which the hero (Chris Pratt) of the 2014 original encounters his long-lost father (Kurt Russell), a demi-god who created, and rules over, his own paradise-like planet. In continuing to adapt a series of Marvel comics, writer-director James Gunn maintains a jaunty atmosphere but adds an interesting allegory about the dangers of selfishness.

But the corporate culture turns out to be unsettlingly cult-like and the outfit's stated goal of enlisting every person on the planet as a member raises troubling issues about privacy and the power of big business.

This column will provide a platform for a range of voices and serve a two-pronged mission. Second, we want to examine what the church can offer to young people at a time and in a culture characterized by skepticism of institutional religion, saturation with identity politics, and changes in communication and commitment.
