Bishop Burbidge dedicates a larger church for the growing community.

The annual Catholic Media Association awards highlight the best of Catholic journalism in the U.S. and Canada. This year, the conference was held virtually instead of at the planned Baltimore location. And this year, the Catholic Herald broke its previous record of 34 awards with a total of 38, plus another five for the diocesan communications office. The accolades recognize everything from our print product, website, photos, stories, sports coverage, videos and ads.

VATICAN CITY — Agreeing with German Cardinal Reinhard Marx that Catholic leaders cannot adopt an "ostrich policy" in the face of the clerical sexual abuse crisis, Pope Francis still told the cardinal that he would not accept his resignation as head of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. 

Diocesan high schools celebrated graduations in person this year after the majority of social distancing requirements, capacity limitations and other restrictions were phased out across the commonwealth and within the diocese.
