In a move that may signal Pope Francis' plan for the reform of the Roman Curia is close to completion, the pope has named Philippine Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of Manila prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. 

The bishops of U.S. Region IV — the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, U.S. Virgin Islands, West Virginia and the Archdiocese for the Military Services — traveled to Rome to meet with Pope Francis for the ad limina visit Dec. 2 -6. Their trip included visits to all four major basilicas in Rome: St. Peter’s, St. Paul Outside the Walls, St. Mary Major and St. John Lateran. 

The diocesan Office of Multicultural Ministries awarded the Fr. Augustus Tolton and Mother Lange Black Catholic Service Award to Jerry Cousin at Christ the Redeemer Church in Sterling Nov. 24. The award, given annually to a person who has worked tirelessly to support the Black Catholic population in the diocese, was presented at the end of the Mass for Black Catholic History Month.
