A Boston historian believes some of Virginia’s first slaves were Christian.

Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, in consultation with the members of the USCCB Administrative Committee, has taken the highly unusual step of disinviting a fellow bishop from the conference's fall general assembly.

A longtime priest of the Diocese of Albany died tragically Oct. 31 when he was caught up in flash flooding on a rural road while traveling to celebrate Mass for the people of Herkimer and Newport about 90 miles outside of Albany. 

Fifty-two of the diocese's deceased priests are buried at Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery.Perhaps it's only fitting, then, that a Mass commemorating All Souls' Day be celebrated at the cemetery.
