A host of Northern Virginia contractors spent their spring painting walls and replacing flooring, carpeting, lighting, bathrooms fixtures, kitchen cabinets at Catholic Charities Christ House, which operates a homeless shelter, food pantry, thrift store and emergency assistance program in Old Town Alexandria. On Friday Bishop Michael Burbidge arrived to tour the 200-year-old building, thank the local organization that spearheaded the project, and bless the new renovations.

For nearly a decade, the annual Immaculate Heart of Mary Home School Conference has made Fredericksburg a hub for homeschool families near and far. This year more than 1,000 people flocked to the Fredericksburg Expo center to take part in the two-day event June 21-22, featuring dynamic and informative speakers along with dozens of homeschooling vendors.

Midway through WorkCamp, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge visited and encouraged more than 850 participating high schoolers who sacrificed a week of their summer vacation to help repair the homes of people in need throughout King George County.

It is true that the position of the Catholic Church against the use of the death penalty has been strengthened because of a textual change in the Catechism of the Catholic Church announced by Pope Francis in August 2018.

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, quoting St. Augustine from the 5th century, Mary "remained a virgin in conceiving her Son, a virgin in giving birth to him, a virgin in carrying him, a virgin in nursing him at her breast, always a virgin" (No. 510).

There is no storyteller in the New Testament greater than St. Luke.

I saw my friend Shelly the other day for the first time in 28 years.
