The girls from St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax out matched the Academy of the Holy Cross team of Kensington, Md., at the WCAC Volleyball Championship Nov. 3 in Fairfax over four sets: 22-25; 25-23, 25-15 and 25-20 to take the title.

As the Bishop Ireton Cardinals burst onto the field Oct. 6 in Alexandria, hopes were high for a victory against rival Paul VI Catholic High School of Fairfax. By the time the game ended, the 509 rushing yards accumulated by the Panthers were no match for the Cardinals as they fell to Paul VI 56-28.

Daniel Stabile, a college and academic counselor at Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, was named as one of 10 new commissioners for the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools Sept. 12.
Bryce Bevill has been named the new athletic director of Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, according to an announcement by Head of School Tom Curry and Principal Denise Tobin.
Bishop O’Connell High School freshman Tess Brinkmann won the Girls’ 1600 with a time of 5:22.22 and the Girls’ 3200 with a time of 11:37:52 during the WCAC Track and Field Championship at Good Counsel High School in Olney, Md., May 19. She was named Female Freshman of the Year.
