This year, Sister Vivian Mary Mastromatteo will celebrate 75 years of consecrated life. A member of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Sister Vivian made her initial profession of vows Feb. 2, 1951, and her perpetual profession Aug. 15, 1954.
Spending 13 years in the Archdiocese of New York, she was instrumental in the New York City Board of Education as well as the Follow Through Program where she assessed curricula and implemented teaching methods catered grades K-3.
Sister Vivian spent several years in Virginia, serving St. Mary’s in Alexandria for three years and Holy Trinity School in Norfolk for five. She earned her bachelor’s in elementary education from Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington.
