Diocese welcomes three new principals

Bethany
Hamm, interim principal of St. Rita School in Alexandria, earned a bachelor’s
in history from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, a master’s in
security studies from George Washington University in Washington and a law
degree from Georgetown University in Washington. She taught high school history
for nine years and has worked with children in various summer enrichment
programs and religious education. She and her husband, Paul, have been
parishioners at St. Rita for six years, and their children attend the parish
school. 

Leslie
Lipovski, interim principal of St. Isidore Catholic Virtual School, earned a
bachelor’s degree in speech and English, a master’s degree in educational
administration and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the
University of Texas at Austin. She has taught English and speech in both middle
and high schools. In addition, Lipovski taught at the university level, where
she instructed secondary teachers and supervised student teachers in the
Fairfax County school system.  

Lipovski
currently serves as the assistant superintendent of curriculum and assessment
for the diocesan Catholic Schools Office. In her position, she has spearheaded
and implemented the online testing program for the elementary schools, established
a curriculum review committee for secondary schools, and reviewed and edited
curriculum for all the schools in the diocese. She also serves as an adjunct
professor at Marymount University in Arlington, where she teaches in the
College of Education. Lipovski
and her husband, Tom, have four children and have resided in Northern Virginia
since 2010. 

Maria Tejada, principal of St. Ambrose School in Annandale, earned a
bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education from Marymount University
in Arlington in 2002 and 2018. She has taught for eight years in Fairfax,
including at St. Leo the Great School, where she served both as assistant
principal and on the development committee from 2018 to 2020.
