Felician Sister who served at Nativity dies

Sister Marie Victoria Bartkowski, a Felician Sister for 61 years including at Church of Nativity in Burke, died at Immaculate Conception Convent in Lodi, N.J., Feb. 22. Formerly known as Sister Mary Florentine, she changed to her baptismal name after the Second Vatican Council.

Sister Bartkowska was born in 1943 in Wilmington, Del., and entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, N.J., in 1961. In the Arlington diocese, she was missioned at Nativity from 1996 to 1999.

Funeral services will be held March 1 at Most Sacred Heart Church, Wallington, N.J., with a wake from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 7 p.m. A reception will take place after in the Great Hall of the church.

March 2, a wake will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel (Felician Sisters) in Lodi, N.J., 2:30-4:30 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. Evening Prayer Service and reading of the necrology. March 3, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. and followed by the burial in the convent cemetery.
