Capture Joy Photography, a local portrait studio owned by Joy Granados, announced a public community art project to feature child portraits in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month.

The goal is to capture fleeting moments of childhood and turn them into art. The “Simply Me” art show benefits diocesan Catholic Charities’ pregnancy and adoption services. Granados, a former adoption services client and parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Herndon, is accepting applications from parents who would like their child to be considered for one of 10 spots in the portrait show.

Portrait sessions will take place in August at the Capture Joy Photography studio in Herndon, with Granados donating portrait fees she receives to Catholic Charities under an arrangement she made with Meaghan Lane, program director for pregnancy and adoption support.

“Simply Me” is set to be held Nov. 2, from 5-7 p.m. at Pinot’s Palette in Herndon. November is National Adoption Awareness Month.
