This spring, freshman basketball players Quincy Wadley and Adam Oumiddoch from Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington participated in USA Basketball’s junior national team minicamp. In total, 62 elite high school athletes from around the country took part in the three-day event held in conjunction with the 2023 NCAA Men’s Final Four in Houston March 31-April 2.

In addition to on-court drills and scrimmages, USA Basketball and the NCAA hosted a series of educational programs for the athletes focused on NCAA eligibility and education, as well as life skills development. Wadley and Oumiddoch attended one of the final four games April 1, and then played in an intrasquad scrimmage the next day at NRG Stadium.

“This was quite an honor for both of these young men,” said Joe Wootten, O’Connell’s head boys basketball coach. “I am counting on this to be a springboard for them as players and know they will use this to be leaders on the court, in the classroom and in the hallways.”
