When a high school basketball player reaches the 1,000-point milestone, the game is typically halted so that the student’s achievement can be recognized. Of course, parents are justifiably proud of this accomplishment. Tony and Kimberly Nguyen of Warrenton experienced this game-stopping moment four times, because each of their four boys has scored more than 1,000 points in his high school career at Seton School in Manassas.

Christian Nguyen transferred to Seton in his sophomore year. By the time he graduated in 2019, he had scored 1,361 points. After graduation, he attended Franciscan University of Steubenville and played basketball there. Next came Andrew, a 2022 Seton graduate, whose total scoring output was 1,273 points. Andrew followed his brother to Franciscan. Also a soccer standout at Seton, he chose to play on turf rather than hardwood in college.

Patrick Nguyen, the Virginia Christian Athletic Conference player of the year who graduates with the Class of 2024, finished his Seton basketball career with1,101 points. The youngest Nguyen brother, Dominic, netted his 1,000th point in this, his sophomore year, finishing the season with 1,082 total career points. He is on track to score over 2,000 points.

“The Nguyen family has made a tremendous impact on the Seton sports program,” said Dan Vander Woude, Seton varsity basketball coach. “Christian, Andrew, Patrick and Dominic have been outstanding leaders on their respective teams. They have the unique talent to perform individually at a very high level, coupled with the ability to elevate the entire team around them. It has been such a pleasure to coach them over the years.”
