Girls’ lacrosse wins third straight VCAC title

The Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School varsity girls lacrosse team won the Virginia Christian Athletic Conference Championship May 9 for the third year in a row.

They went undefeated in regular season conference play and ended the season with an 18-10 championship win over Trinity Christian School.

Several players received all conference accolades. Senior Meghan Norko was named VCAC co-player of the year. Norko has signed to play lacrosse at Wagner University in Staten Island, N.Y., next year. Players named to VCAC first team all-conference include: Senior Catalina O’Connor who will play at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., junior Julia Foster, who verbally committed to UNC Charlotte in N.C., and sophomore Deirdre Sanchez. Second team all-conference include: seniors Libby Mignati and Maya Spell.

The team is coached by Makayla Maham and Kameryn Darrington.
