The Bishop Ireton and Bishop O’Connell high schools’ chapters of Best Buddies both won the annual Bishop’s Cup at the VA-DC Best Buddies Friendship Walk April 29 on the National Mall. The Bishop’s Cup is co-sponsored by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge to recognize the outstanding Catholic school chapters at the annual event.

More than 2,000 people from all over Northern Virginia and Washington took part in the walk, which raises critical funds and awareness for programs supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Ireton’s chapter raised more than $8,000, and O’Connell raised more than $6,000 to help Best Buddies and its mission.
