A second collection will be held at all Arlington diocesan
parish Masses June 1-2 to aid victims of the Oklahoma
tornadoes.
Proceeds from the collection will go to an emergency fund
established by Catholic Charities USA in partnership with
Catholic Charities of the Oklahoma City Archdiocese. The fund
will provide necessities such as shelter and supplies, and
will help individuals rebuild their homes and lives.
Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde recently wrote diocesan
priests calling for the second collection.
“In the wake of this natural disaster,” he wrote, “we have
the opportunity to participate in corporal works of mercy,
demonstrating the Lord’s love for those in need.”
The bishop also asked all priests and parishioners to join
him in prayer for the souls of the deceased as well as for
the injured and those providing care.
How to help
