What’s distinctive about your parish? What is your parish’s charism? Christ the Redeemer Church in Sterling is a large multicultural parish. Our goal is to help all people to know Christ, to love Christ, to serve Christ and to be with Christ forever in heaven.

What’s the one unique thing visitors to your parish should do or see while there? In our Guadalupe Chapel, we have a large 6-foot image of el Señor de los Milagros (the Lord of the Miracles). We have holy cards in the chapel to help foster this Peruvian devotion. The entire month of October is dedicated to the Lord of the Miracles.

Any recently started parish ministries? Our poor box ministry is amazing. From April 2020 to April 2021, Christ the Redeemer has given more than $600,000 through its poor box ministry to many families in our area to stay in their homes by paying rent and other expenses. This was possible through the generosity of our parishioners and several other parishes as well as collaboration with Catholic Charities.

Is there a special way your parish encourages and supports faith formation? During the school year, we run a program called Catholicism 101 (Conoce Tu Fe), where Catholics come for a refresher on the basics of the faith and those interested in becoming Catholic can find out more.

How are you supporting the faith journey of particular cultures represented in your parish? We have a beautiful bilingual parish and offer almost every program in Spanish and English. After every weekday Mass as well as on First Saturday devotions, we have a multilingual rosary prayed in five different languages (English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Filipino and French).

What’s something we should know about your clergy? Our clergy are available, involved and dedicated to our families and parishioners.

Is there a standout or longtime staff member or volunteer you’d like to tell us about? Donna Ata has worked in the parish office for 27 years and has been a source of great strength and selfless service the entire time.
