WASHINGTON — More than 40 percent of Trinity Washington University's full-time undergraduate students opened their emails from the university July 23 to learn they will start the school year with a clean financial slate, because the university paid off their outstanding debts.

Parishes across the diocese will use the second collection at Mass Sept. 4-5 to raise funds to support The Catholic University of America in Washington, the national university of the Catholic Church. It is the only higher education institution founded by the U.S. bishops, and this is the only national collection taken for higher education in Catholic churches across the county.   

As Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Potomac Shores prepares to reopen, students who haven’t seen each other for months greet in the halls, sport teams take to the fields for conditioning and faithful devotees stop in the chapel to pray.   

Has the Supreme Court sold out to religion? You could be excused for thinking so if all you had to go on was the hue and cry protesting things the court did last term. And now that furor on the left is growing even more intense in anticipation of a new term with abortion and aid to religious schools on the agenda.
