Over this past year, the role of communications in the Catholic Church has been unprecedentedly evident. With growing concerns about COVID-19 and shrinking access to public Masses, many Catholics found comfort in viewing livestreamed Masses, listening to our Bishop’s podcasts, reading about charitable works in diocesan publications, watching their pastors’ spiritual reflections online, and sharing upbeat messages through social media.

Love is the bull’s-eye of the good news of Jesus Christ. We know that. We have heard about the centrality of love countless times. Still, it is our mission to experience, ponder and live the love of God with greater depth every day of our lives. 

VATICAN CITY — With a consistory to approve the canonization of seven saints as a backdrop, eight cardinals — including U.S. Cardinal Raymond L. Burke — moved from the rank of cardinal deacons to the rank of cardinal priests. 

Catholics around the diocese will have a few chances over the next several weeks to see an exhibit associated with Blessed Carlo Acutis and the Eucharist, which the popular young man energetically touted during his lifetime.  

VATICAN CITY — The sainthood causes of seven men and women — including the hermit Blessed Charles de Foucauld and the Indian martyr Devasahayam Pillai — cleared their final hurdle May 3 during an "ordinary public consistory," a meeting of the pope, cardinals and promoters of sainthood causes that formally ends the sainthood process.
